Nadya went to Aunt Misty's house for a sleep over when I got a phone call. Apparently, Nadya was jumping on the trampoline for all of about one minute and she fell through the springs. Misty said she was on the way to the hospital because Nadya would need stitches. She neglected to tell me how bad it was. When I arrived at KidsCare, I thought perhaps we should go to Primary Children's because there was a
huge gap in her foot about two inches long and quite deep. KidsCare actually brought in another doctor to consult and they both concurred that there was no nerve or tendon damage therefore they could just close it up. It took two layers of stitches. The inner layer dissolves and the outer layer will come out in two weeks. Nadya did really well. I felt so bad for her. She is now wobbling around on crutches. Unfortunately there are some really fun water activities coming up this next week with school ending that she will not be able to participate in. She also just started running track, and will be taking a break from that too. Here are a few pictures for the strong stomached.

I NEVER let my older children get on a trampoline (OK I was much more controlling first time around) but the reason is that when I was in 5th grade one of my classmates became a paraplegic after a "wrong" landing - and all he was doing was a seat-drop! He just landed cockeyed and something was severed in his spine. That was traumatic enough that I never could bear my kids to go on one....even though it caused some social difficulties for them from time to time... Now I hear about a NEW trampoline peril - just when I had loosened up a bit.
