Kids Play While Dad Works!

In an attempt to entertain the kids over Christmas Break and keep them out of Doug's way while he has been busy finishing the last of the basement, I took the kids to Hollywood Connection for some fun. They received gift certificates from Aunt Misty and Uncle Aaron for Christmas and we decided to use them and Misty came along. (Thanks Mist!) The kids first rode the roller coaster. (All but Alex who rode The Atlantis at Sea World, but didn't want to ride this baby coaster?) Go figure.

They rode several other rides, but I only had my point and shoot camera and the lighting was pretty bad, so I didn't take many pictures. They all seemed to love the bumper cars best!

There is a magician show every couple of hours and the kids were thoroughly entertained! I loved watching how mesmerized they were. The boys were in complete awe. Occasionally they would ask for volunteers and Hallie was picked! I did video it, and I'll include it at the end of the post. But, it is rather long and may not be interesting to most of you, but it is the kind of thing Grandma and Grandpa may like. Here they are watching very intently!

The girls went roller skating while the boys, my sister and I snacked on Nachos. Alex tried to skate for about 5 minutes and then decided that was enough. It was all included in their pass so it was no big deal to us. Lastly, we went miniature golfing. We started out playing very seriously and took turns and played by the rules. But, towards the middle it pretty much became an anything goes game. Carter did MUCH better than last time we attempted miniature golf. (when he was also very tired and thought everyone was cheating so he and I went and found something else to do) But, this time he did great! Yeah Carter!

My Golfing Clan....
(the girls looking so grown up with their bangs!)

Carter holds the golf club backwards and I tried to correct him, but for some crazy reason he did much better backwards so we just let him.

I mentioned that towards the middle of the game we switched rules to-
anything goes- even cheating......
While the boys were doing very well, they really do not have the attention span for the full game yet, so we made up a few rules like:
If there is something you are trying to get the ball in you could use your hands....

Sounds reasonable, right?

The kids all had a great afternoon and Doug got a lot accomplished at home! :)

Sorry Grandma and Grandpa..  video is not uploading tonight.  I'll try again later..
