Friday Night after Nadya's Gymnastics meet, we came home to these:
7 Baby Chicks!!!!!!!
The girls saw the light from the cage and instantly bolted from the van,
calling dibs on specific chicks.
Doug took the boys to get the chicks earlier that night.. He picked the chicks up from his work and kept them in a box. On the way home, he kept stopping and getting out of the truck for a few minutes waiting for the boys to peek into the box. The chicks were chirping away and he didn't hear a peep out of the boys, and every time he got out of the truck the boys were perfectly behaved and stayed in their car seat. (Go figure???) Finally- the third time Doug stopped the boys curiously peeked into the box and yelled, "Daddy, we have baby birds!" Cute, cute, boys!
Our plan is to keep the girls and eat their eggs. We are hoping that at least 4 of them are females. Doug claims the boys will be dinner, but we'll just see about that. I really don't care what he does with them, but I can't won't eat them. (Maybe I'll change my mind later when I am sick of them, but currently they are cute little chicks!)
They are sooooo cute!
(Yes, the kids too!)
