A few laughs for those of you reading.
Christmas Eve we went to my mom’s house and when we left it was quite cold, windy and a storm was a brewin. Doug carried Alex out to the van and stopped to look at the sky with him. Doug commented that a storm was coming and Alex looked up to the sky and with a lot of concern said, “I sure hope he can make it.” Doug told Alex not to worry. Santa would make it, he had Rudolph!
Last week when the boys and I returned home from school, my Aunt Toni was there just finishing her weekly cleaning. Toni’s oldest son is dying of brain cancer and she has taken some time off from cleaning and the boys were happy to see her. I was teasing Carter about being a mess maker and Carter was looking a little bit worried so Toni told Carter not to worry because everyone was a mess maker they just had to learn to clean up their messes. Carter looked at her with a very shocked face and replied, “NO, not EVERYONE is a mess maker, Jesus isn’t a mess maker.” To which Toni said, “Oh, YES he IS!” I just love Carter’s innocence.
Today on the way to school we passed the usual cemetery and sometimes that will lead to interesting conversation. Well, today it reminded Alex of the time we spent at my Dad’s grave and how he and Laurence rolled down the hills while I put flowers down and talked to Dad. Then Alex told me that he remembers his Grandpa John and I told him he couldn’t because he never met him. Alex replied that he thinks he remembers him, but he probably doesn’t. I reminded Alex that Grandpa John was in heaven when Carter piped in with, “Alex, yets (lets) watch All Dogs go to Heaven and see if we see him!” Alex, was quite frustrated and yelled back, “Carter, he WASN’T a dog!” Gotta love them two!
