Officially A Teenager!

We officially have a teenager in the house.
I am not sure how it happened or whether or not I like it,
but it is what it is!
Nadya Mae turned 13 and she is more beautiful than ever!
On her birthday, I surprised her by picking her up early from school.
She had no idea why I was there or what was going on.
In the car I let her in on my secret!
I was taking her to get highlights for her 13th Birthday!
She has been asking for them for at least a year.
She was so so excited!
I snapped a few pictures with my IPhone.

We opted for blonder highlights that would lighten up her hair and give it a sun kissed look.
It looks great!
Later that night family came over to celebrate.
We ate dinner, one of Nadya's favorites- Zupa Toscana Soup.
After dinner she opened her presents.
Along with her highlights, she received a poster size collage of her doing gymnastics, a gymnastics wall decal, a large print of her leaping over hay bales in Iowa, a couple of Aeropostale shirts, money from her grandparents, and new flip flops for Summer!  Spoiled Rotten!
Her decal and poster look great in her room!
Of course we had ice cream and cake!
She asked to be surprised
so I made chocolate cake with white frosting!
Nadya's cake ended up looking rather patriotic.
It wasn't planned, but was actually quite appropriate considering
she has blossomed into a typical American teenager!
Many people wished Nadya a Happy Birthday and then told me how sorry they were!
Yikes!  I hope they are wrong!  I hope we enjoy the teenage years because ready or not, they're here!
